The top photo is from the Cobb Cemetery near Groesbeck, Texas. This metal panel still hangs from the fence—complete with the old phone number.
The side-by-side photos are the front and back of the same tombstone in the African American portion of the Owensville Cemetery near Franklin, Texas. The carver was kind enough to inscribe his contact information on the back. I looked Mr. Thomas up in the 1930 census and his profession was listed as “shoe cobbler.” A man of many talents, apparently.
